Their role is a vital one.
Inventory is extremely well-managed, and the prices are just a tad lower than Walgreen's. They're fast, too ... I'm often in and out in 15 minutes or less. The manager on duty is always accessible. Knowledgeable, too. I've urged my faculty adviser from business school, who is adamant about good customer service, to come out from Chicago to give this operation a look-see. That's how good they are.
I am afflicted with spinal nerve damage which isn't easy to manage. The folks here understand and are patient, supportive and very, very kind, I have to say. They are an important part of my wellness team. I'd be lost without them.
While Dixon has a Walgreen's which is quite good at what they do, Shopko's pharmacy has them beat. It's a chain store, yes, but here the service is personalized and genuinely friendly--there isn't one sourpuss on staff, and I have met them all. They remember your name, much like an independent mom and pop-type organization; that, coupled with their professionalism makes for a pretty persuasive argument to do business here.
